Lockdown butterfly count as follows: Small White, Green-veined White, Orange-tip, Brimstone, Peacock, Small Tort, Comma and Holly Blue. Bird count only 26, including heard only (Wren) and flyovers. Assume Rumbolds' count is higher due presence of river and hirundines, of which I have seen none.

The Rumbolds
13th April 60 to 80 mixed martins and swallows arrived at 2pm-ish and stayed hawking for insects along the road and river until 6.30 when they all gradually moved away north up-river.
Our lock-down garden list now at 38 if we count three heard only - green woodpecker, chiffchaff and blackcap.

Highlights from visible migration and watches at Stainburn in Feb include up to 2 Raven, up to 133 Curlew (mostly in a big flock just N of Beaver Dyke), Peregrine, a max of 413 fieldfare, Green woodpecker ( which unfortunately never once crossed the road into the HDNHS recording area). otherwise generally sparse pickings: for full details see: https://www.trektellen.org/count/view/793/20200229
